Biography
Giorgio Sangati
Theatre director and playwright. Born in Abano Terme (Padua) in 1981, he trained as an actor at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano School and became Luca Ronconi's assistant before founding the company Teatro Bresci.
Training
He graduated in Communication Sciences from the University of Padua. In 2004 he took part in a masterclass project, studying with Lev Dodin and Anatoly Vasiliev; in 2005 he graduated as an actor from the Piccolo Teatro di Milano's Theatre School, directed by Luca Ronconi. He later deepened his work on acting with Yoshi Oida, Anne Bogart and Declan Donnellan.
As an actor
He worked as an actor in several Piccolo Teatro di Milano productions directed by Luca Ronconi, including "I soldati" by Lenz and "Arlecchino servitore di due padroni"; he performed in Brecht's "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui", directed by Claudio Longhi (ERT). On screen, he has been directed by Michele Placido, Marco Tullio Giordana and Renato De Maria.

Founding of Teatro Bresci
He founds the company through which he stages classics and original plays, many of which he writes himself.
2011 – 2012
First recognition as a writer
His play "Malabrenta" wins second prize at the 2011 Premio OFF, chaired by Alessandro Gassman; the following year "Arbeit" wins the award for best performance and "Buco" is a finalist at the Atir and Piccolo Teatro Playfestival.
2015
Directing debut at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano
He directs Goldoni's "Le donne gelose" ("The Jealous Women"), a production that the following year represents Italy at the Alexandrinsky International Theatre Festival in St Petersburg.
2016
Beginning of his teaching activity
He begins working as an acting teacher with the Accademia Palcoscenico of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto and with the Centro di Ricerca Teatrale Santa Cristina in Gubbio.
2017 – 2018
Drama and opera
He directs "I due gentiluomini di Verona" ("The Two Gentlemen of Verona") for the CTB – Centro Teatrale Bresciano, co-produced with the Teatro Stabile del Veneto, Piccinni's "Le donne vendicate" for the Festival della Valle d'Itria, "Lettere a Nour" by Rachid Benzine for ERT (staged at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto), and Bulgakov's "Heart of a Dog" at the Teatro Grassi of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
2019
Recognition in Moscow
He stages Goldoni's "La casa nova" with the actors of the Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow, a production that wins the "Stars of the Russian Theatre" award for best production by a foreign director.
2021 – 2024
Centro Teatrale Bresciano
He directs Vitaliano Trevisan's "Il delirio del particolare" and David Mamet's "Boston Marriage", with Maria Paiato. In 2024 he also directs Stefano Massini's "Ladies Football Club" for the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, again with Maria Paiato.

He directs this "Goldoni horror" for the Dramma Italiano of Rijeka, co-produced with the Teatro Stabile del Veneto, premiering at the Ivan de Zajc Croatian National Theatre.
